Walk around Växjösjön

It has been a busy month. I’ve been trying to squeeze in two days a week working at Susanna’s preschool fixing things and building a chicken coop. I’ve also started Swedish For Immigrants (SFI) two evenings a week. I’ve never been very natural at languages, and learning languages gets harder with age. So the language lessons are tiring.

However, the weather has been improving and the days are getting longer.

Today is Valborgsmässoafton (Walpurgis Night) and Izzy had the day off from school. She had a friend over most of the day. I took them out to lunch and created a scavenger hunt for them to do in the city this afternoon. They did the scavenger hunt for a while before giving up and coming home to cook cookies (they are cleaning up their mess in the kitchen as I write this). I took Hoagie out and did the walk around the lake (Växjösjön). Here are some pictures from today.

The Växjö runestone (Sm10) reading “[T]oki(?) ræisti stæin æftiʀ Gunnar, sun Grims. Guð hialpi salu hans! Toki vikingʀ” (“Tóki, Tóki the Viking, raised the stone in memory of Gunnarr, Grímr’s son. May God help his soul!”). The runestone has been dated to the 11th century.
