Exterior Door Repair

I’m working on repairing an old door from a customer. This door is a lot more work than the repainting job I just finished. The replacement glass showed up a lot sooner than I had expected, so I got to work on repairing the wood rot today. I cut off about 7cm of wood from the top of the door and cut in rebates on each side that I’ll match to a new piece of pine to repair the top. The rot went deeper than I had expected, so I’ll use some epoxy to stabilize the parts that still have some rot.

I milled up the pine needed for the repair, but will need to figure out the slot cutter on the shaper on Friday to cut the groove in the new stock. I’m using the heavy paper to protect the glass – I don’t really want to break another pane.
